Two and Three

Two decades and three today

No grand milestone year, but

If you remembered know I did too

The knicks and cuts we gave each other

Follies of youth those were

I forgive me, you and us for those

Those nights long ago when you

Told me stories of pirates and shipwrecks

Read me beautiful poetry

Your eyes dreamy with feeling

Which I imagined to be love

There was a place the roads parted

Two decades and three today

I wish you well, my friend

We were not meant to be more

And for trying what could not be

Lost what should have been

It was hard to forget and it still is
