The article is not bylined but was written by Marco Buscaglia, whose name is on most of the other articles in the 64-page section. Buscaglia told 404 Media via email and on the phone that the list was AI-generated. βI do use AI for background at times but always check out the material first. This time, I did not and I can't believe I missed it because it's so obvious. No excuses,β he said. βOn me 100 percent and I'm completely embarrassed.β
Until we get to the point that there are no sources of truth left because everything has been touched or generated by AI, we would be wise to check before we hit the button. There is also the risk that people will become incapable of thinking for themselves from over-reliance. But there may be no escaping the dependency while there is a sustained push from employers of all stripes to boost productivity with AI or perish.
The most impacted will be those who never got to do the job unassisted, they will not have the foundational skills and capabilities to do the job if one day AI is no longer the panacea. Those much further along their career and on the verge of slowing down or even retiring might benefit the most.
